This time of year is  the most horrible time of the year.  Why?  Two words . . . school shopping!   Now, I don’t mind getting the pencils, pens, binders, etc.  . . . that is, until I see the total on the register.  The part of school shopping that is the worst for me, is buying clothes.  I have 2 daughters, 10 and 12 years old, and both couldn’t be more different from one another.  So shopping with them is always an experience.  That’s a whole other blog post!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with my girls, but just not in a mall.  It’s not the “Why can’t I have this?” and “What do you mean it’s too tight?” that bothers me the most.  It’s the amount of time spent in the fitting room.  This is why I believe that in the fitting room something happens with time and space that completely defies what we have been taught in school.  Time just seems to vanish in the fitting room!  Allow me to explain.   For me, the fitting room is a quick and sometimes painful event . . . I try, I look, I laugh or cry and I’m out!  That was not the case yesterday.  We got to the mall at 3:30.  Things were going well.  Each of them found things they liked and no one was angry, crying or fighting at this point, so I thought things were going great!  Ha!   We looked around and got sizes and different styles and arrived in the fitting room just before 4.  Clothing was on and off and on and off  . . . again, again and again!   We all left the room satisfied and then I looked at my phone for the time!  WOW!!  Where did the time go????  It was 5:15!!!  I could not believe we spent all that time in a tiny room trying on clothes!!  So a warning . . . beware of the fitting room . . .  I know that’s an hour of my life I want back!
